The annual Convocation of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island is a special gathering of all clergy and laity in our diocese. All are welcome to take part in the information and formation offered via Convocation programs.

Working toward the goal of creating a Diocesan mission focus of “Feeding the Hungry,” the Mission Task Force has taken the lead role in planning Convocation weekend 2012 with guest Sara Miles, author of “Take This Bread” and “Jesus Freak.”  Sara brings a unique and refreshing perspective on worship and what it means to be a Christian.  Come Feed the spirit and body through worship, fellowship, and formation. Sara Miles will be with us both days and we hope you can be as well.

Come to this free evening, and be fed with your friends in the Diocese of Rhode Island. Join the diocesan community for Holy Eucharist, followed by supper together. Bishop Wolf will preside and Sara Miles will be our guest preacher. Childcare is available onsite and children are welcome in worship.

This is an opportunity to worship together in creative and nourishing ways, hear an inspirational keynote address by Sara Miles, and attend workshops to deepen our engagement. Includes Buffet Lunch together. Workshop topics will include: “A foretaste of the Heavenly Banquet: Transcendent Worship,” “Cultivating Kingdom Hospitality,” “Ministry that feeds bodies and strengthens the Body of Christ”, “The Kids are Hungry: Nourishing the spiritual lives of young people”, and "Feeding Hungry Teens: Nourishing Youth and Young Adults".

More About Sara Miles

Working out of the Church of Saint Gregory of Nyssa in San Francisco, she has built a thriving food pantry ministry feeding over 1200 families each week.  In this brief YouTube video Sara elegantly restates what we all, as Christians, know as our mission in life.
