What is the Creative Writing Contest all about?

RISEN Magazine's Creative Writing Contest aims to support writers who are called to create in the Image of our Creator God, and to introduce RISEN's 22,000 readers to these inspired authors and their works.

This year was our first contest, and by the November 30th Entry Deadline, RISEN had received a large amount of submissions from all across the country. The submissions were judged blindly by two established writers, Phoebe Pettingell and Steven Hobbs. Both judges marveled at the difficulty of their decision.

The winning works listed here each received a $500 prize, and their poem or story now appears in RISEN's Winter 2010 “Creation and Creativity” issue which you can view and download at the bottom of this page.
