Our Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Award
The Episcopal Charities Fund of Rhode Island is honored to have received the Outstanding Philanthropic Service Organization Award in 2003. Episcopal Charities was nominated by St. Mary’s Home for Children, a long-time friend of the fund as well as the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.
About AFP
The Association of Fundraising Professionals represents 27,000 members in 180 chapters throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China. The Rhode Island Chapter of AFP has over 200 members who represent a broad range of local non-profit organizations. The chapter sponsors educational opportunities, mentoring, advocacy, outreach, the annual daylong fundraising conference, and hosts the Rhode Island Celebration of National Philanthropy Day. AFP-RI is committed to implementing local initiatives that assure cultural and social diversity in its membership, leadership and educational programs.
Established by the United States Congress, National Philanthropy Day, which is celebrated and sponsored by local AFP chapters, recognizes the various acts of those who work together to build communities. Awards are given on this day to recognize Partners in Philanthropy, Outstanding Philanthropic Citizen, Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation, and Outstanding Philanthropic Service Organization.
