L.A.R.I. The Diocese of Louisiana and Rhode Island
At the moment our relationship with the Diocese of Louisiana is focused on the rebuilding of New Orleans by a commitment to help those who still have needs to be met. Our Diocese and a number of RI parishes and individuals have made the commitment to stay involved long-term, and opportunities for mission trips to New Orleans are published throughout the diocese on an ongoing basis.
We are also in conversation about other aspects of our relationship, possibly sharing with them in their Honduras mission trips and participating in some joint Christian formation activities. The co-chair of the LARI subcommittee, The Rev. Clare Fischer-Davies, has led
a number of groups to New Orleans and is hopeful that some of the spirit of justice and mission of true urban renewal lived out in New Orleans will be a blessing for Rhode Island. We are formulating new ideas for our connection all the time.
