Clergy gather with the Bishop and each other in a variety of settings throughout the year. Upcoming events are listed below.

CLERGY DAYS FOR 2007 - 2008
All Clergy Days will meet at the Cathedral of St. John, Providence, unless otherwise noted. Coffee is availabe thirty minutes prior to the start time; lunch is always provided.

2007

Tuesday, October 16th, 9:30am
Health Coverage for Our Churches
We are pleased to hae Tim Vanover from the Medical Trust Division of Church Pension Group to talk to us about the feasibility study authorized by General Convention (A-147). The information he is collecting in focus/discussion group gatherings will help them formulate a proposal for General Convention, 2009. He needs to hear primarily from active clergy (and not retired) for the survey information so it is important that as many of our rectors, vicars and assistants be present. In addition, Bishop Wolf wills peak briefly and respond to questions about the latest House of Bishops gathering.

Saturday, October 20th, 8:30am
Breakfast with The Most Rev. George Carey, 103rd Archbishop of Canterbury
Clergy are invited to Synod Hall for a sit-down breakfast with Archbishop Carey. We'll begin serving at 8;30am. For one hour, beginning at 9:00am, he will entertain remarks, comments and conversation in an open-forum style. All this precedes an address he wil make for any diocesan members who wish to attend, beginning at 10:30 in the cathedral nave. The day concludes at noon.

Tuesday, November 27th, 9:00am -- St. Paul's Church, Pawtucket
Safe Church Refresher Training for Clergy - RSVP to Debbie Smith 274-4500 ext 240!
We are pleased to have Robin Hammeal-Urban, Pastoral Response Coordinator for the Diocese of Connecticut, as our trainer this day. Because this training is mandated by General Convention as well as our own diocesan policies, we should understand this to be a "command performance" and all active priests and deacons (canonically resident and/or licensed to officiate) must attend. Certificates will be issued which will become part of your official clergy file. Note: 1/2 hr. earlier time change!

2008

Thursday, February 14th, 9:30am
"Preaching the Triduum"
We are honored to have The Rev. Martin Smith, well-known homilist, writer and former Superior of the Cowley Fathers (SSJE) in Cambridge as our guest speaker. Fr. Smith is especially noted for his preaching around the Lent and Easter themes and this will be a great event as we study the lections appointed for the Triduum.

Thursday, March 13th, 11:00am -- Note Time Change!
Renewal of Ordination Vows and Blessing of Oils
Once again, we will gather with our Bishop in the Cathedral to renew our ordination vows and commit, once again, to our promises as ordained persons. A simple lunch will follow in Synod Hall.

Thursday, April 10th, 9:30am -- CANCELLED!
Anti-Racism Training
To fulfill the requirements from the Episcopal Church to address racism, we offer a brief training morning. The trainer will be a staff person from the Episcopal Church Center (to be announced)! Again, this is important for our life and health as a Diocese and, therefore, clergy are urged to attend.
