A brief history of the Episcopal Church in Rhode Island traces the diocese from Pastor Blackstone's preaching beneath the "Catholic Oak" in Lonsdale through the Revolutionary period and 19th centuries to the present day.

In the Episcopal church individual parishes serve as the primary record-keepers of baptisms, confirmations, marriages and burials. If you are looking for any of these records, please inquire first to the church where the sacrament was performed.

Records from antiquity and from some closed parishes are stored in the Special Collections Department of the University of Rhode Island Library. Additional diocesan records are kept there as well as in a vault in Diocesan House.
