In the context of our Diocesan Mission "To live in Christ Jesus....Transform the World," it is the mission of the College Commission to promote and/or provide for:
  • pastoral care to students, faculty and staff of Rhode Island's higher education institutions;
  • education and formation in the Anglican tradition,
  • student growth in applying Christian principles to behavior,
  • teaching, research, and administration that is conducted in a way that reflects Christian values,
  • clarity of thought and perspective in meeting the challenges, confusion, and excitement of the university environment;
  • recognition of God as the source of all wisdom so as to put intellectual activity in the context of spiritual growth,
  • students' deeper and broader concept of worship through personal experience and corporate community experience,
  • peer mentoring among students in developing communities of spiritual understanding and growth;
  • campus community that indicates a vision of God's purpose for the world,
  • self-images that envision each person making her/his unique contribution in serving God and others, and
  • outreach and linkages between parish and campus communities to reinforce each other's missions in service to God.

Mission Statement: The mission of the campus ministry of the RISCC is to minister to the needs of the college and university community as a whole; and so to remind faculty and students that the spiritual is not opposed to learning and knowledge, but provides a context for its meaning. Our focus is to develop the integral relationship between the life of the mind and the life of the spirit from the perspective of the biblical and Christian faith traditions.
