Dear Student:
Thank you for your interest in the Diocesan Scholarship Fund. As of June 1, 2007, the endowment which contributed to financing the Diocesan Scholarship Fund is no longer available. Therefore, the only funds that we receive now are from Episcopal Charities.
Values of the grants awarded are in the range of $400.00 and $500.00 annually. The grants are awarded on the basis of need as well as academic achievement.
If you wish the Committee to consider a scholarship application for you, please
see that the following is done:
1. Submit the application form, completely filled out and
signed by your parents or guardians to Diocesan Scholarship Committee, 275 North
Main Street, Providence RI 02903-1298. THE DEADLINE IS JUNE 15th, 2008.
2. If you are entering college as a freshman, please have your high school send a transcript of your high school grades to the Committee.
3. If you are already in college, and applying for the first time, please
have the registrar send a complete college transcript of credits to date. The committee will not accept grades printed from a web site without a student name and college name.
4. If you are a "first time" applicant, you must request a letter of recommendation from your rector/vicar to be sent to the diocesan office.
5. If you are already receiving a grant from the Scholarship Fund, you must complete a new application and send a copy of your second semester grades for 2008. The committee will not accept grades printed from a web site without a student name and college name.
6. Do not hold your application if you are waiting for transcripts/grades. We must have your application in our office before June 15th.
All applications must be completed in full. The Committee cannot act upon incomplete applications.
All of the aforementioned items must be sent to the Episcopal Scholarship
Fund Committee at the above address by June 15, 2008. The committee will not accept applications after June 15.
If you decide to make an application, we the Committee will give it careful consideration, and its contents will be kept confidential. The Committee usually meets in August and grants are sent at the end of August. In any case, we wish you every success in your future education.
