The Rev. Canon Dr. Charles K. (Chuck) Robertson will be the guest preacher at the 2019 Diocesan Convention Eucharist. The Eucharist will be at 7 p.m. November 8 at St. Luke’s, East Greenwich.
Robertson serves as the presiding bishop’s canon to the ordinary for external church ministry. His responsibilities include the Episcopal Church’s work in the Anglican Communion, with world missions and appointed missionaries, and our relationships with the U.S. government and the United Nations among his other duties. Robertson also is a distinguished visiting professor at The General Theological Seminary.
“I’ve asked him to be our convention preacher and presenter,” said Bishop Knisely, “because he is uniquely qualified to invite us to go deeper into our existing relationships with other Christians around the world, to hear of how they are following the Way of Love and to learn how we can be a resource to so many other people.”
Robertson will speak about how the church has created a worldwide network of people united in the way of love, presenting connections and relationships we have in the Anglican Communion as vehicles for Episcopalians to truly live into the Way of Love charges to “Go” and to “Learn.” Earlier on Friday, Robertson will lead a workshop on the state of the Anglican Communion and the meaning of the Lambeth Conference, which brings bishops from throughout the communion together once every 10 years. Watch for more details as the convention approaches.
